The Scatter Ridge Retreat, with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, can sleep 13 guests or more. It borders Strouds Run State Park for outdoor recreation and is less than 15 minutes from Athens. The Retreat is cozy for a couple, yet roomy for large groups. Multiple or large vehicles will have  no trouble getting in and out of the large gravel parking area.

 

There is walk-in access to state park trails, one which is perfect for those with young children. A less than five-minute drive will take guests to the park's Dow Lake at Strouds Run State Park for swimming, boating (bring your own or rent pontoons, kayaks, paddleboards, and pedal boats!), fishing, mountain biking, hunting, and hiking.

 

Need to venture in town? It doesn't take long to get groceries or dine on a delicious meal at one of Athens County's reputable locally-owned dining establishments. Breweries and wineries are located in both town and rural settings. Uptown Athens has shops with unique gifts, jewelry, and clothing as well as the historical Ohio University campus.

 

Another option is not going anywhere!  With an outdoor bar, large yard, fire ring, and multiple sitting areas close to nature, there is no need.  If weather keeps you inside, enjoy the hot tub, gas fireplace, and provided movies, music, and games.
